today we celebrated baby girl's birthday.
she's almost ten.
before she was born, the doctors said she was dead.
today, she ran around squealing with her friends, eating cupcakes baked in ice cream cones and topped with glitter icing flowers. she shot a couple games of pool, fluttered her lashes over her justin beiber poster, held hands with a friend on each side of her and skipped up the front steps in cutoff shorts and tall brown boots. later she headed out for a sleepover with her best friend, and i was just a quick hug and a "bye, love you" tossed over her shoulder as she got in the car.
my baby has been here almost ten years, and she's perfect. there is no bigger bliss trip than that.
What is Bliss-Trippin'?
you know when you see a cat moping around, and all of a sudden it goes crazy and starts chasing a ray of sun? or when a little kid wanders into the room and starts giggling for no apparent reason? that's a bliss trip. life gets really crazy and hectic sometimes. the news is full of tragedy, we're all broke, and none of us have figured out how to get enough time/love/joy/sex out of the space we're given to play with on earth. i tend to get caught up in the cranky parts of life, and forget to take the occasional bliss trip. so... here is where i'll make note of all (well, maybe not quite all) of the little things that make me want to chase my tail and giggle. enjoy.
